Rolling

Rolling better know as rollerblading or aggressive inline to those outside of the "sport" has been a passion of mine since I was fifteen. Granted I don't do it as often as I would like (which would be every day if given the opportunity) but it is something that I will forever enjoy. Here are a few shots from a couple of events that I attended this year. The indoor shot is from the annual Barn Burner competition held at Skate Barn skate park in Renton, Washington. The outdoor shot is from an annual get together of the local skaters that met up at my home town park in Forest Grove this past summer. As always, more on Flickr.

Family Vacation

We took a wonderful trip out to Lincoln City this past August and rented a house on Devil's Lake for a week. The weather was awesome for most of the time which granted us some good beach fun. The lake is quite large and I highly recommend renting a house there during the summer. You can fish, swim and rent boats for fairly cheap. We even went swimming in the ocean! Other activities included my constant battle with a fishing rod, Jacob progressing to walking full time, going bowling, visiting the aquarium at Newport. Here are a few images with more at Flickr.

More Summer Fun

The Godmother of our two boys, Sarah, invited us to a Pow Wow that was being held at Beaverton Highschool back in June. I was sick that day but was able to pull it together and ride down with the family. It was a lot of fun and I recommend attending one if you can. I mostly used my 50mm F1.8 but also used my 100-300mm F5.6L and was getting some suprising results. ISO ranged from 1600 to 3200. Here are a few shots with more on Flickr.

Berries Abound

Our first trip to Smith Berry Barn yielded some nice results. We picked several pounds of raspberries of various types and purchased some pre-picked blackberries. I think Jackson ate more of the berries he picked than what he put in the buckets. Jacob was attached to my back the whole time so that is why he is not in any of these pictures. There are a few more on Flickr.

4th of July 2009

Our family had a good time this year at the fireworks display in Banks, Oregon. Before the show there was a Life Flight heilicopter that had to make two trips and the kids got to see it take off and land. I took traditional shots of fireworks but had the idea to move the camera around during the long exposures and got some interesting results. Hope you like them!

Hiatus

After establishing the blog I got lazy. I had the best of intentions of updating on a regular basis but was a little overwhelmed by the amount of photos that I wanted to post and didn't know where to begin. So I abandoned it.

Now I am rededicating myself and will be posting more images and grammar in the near future.

Jacob

This post is for Jacob, my second son. Jacob is cool. His personality is so different than his brother's it's almost like night and day. This shot was taken around his 6 month birthday. I tried to recreate the same backdrop setup that Stephanie put together when we did Jackson's 6 months pictures so we would be able to compare the two. The background is some type of microfiber cloth draped over our couch and on to the floor. Then there was this frilly netting stuff which I am sure there is a more accurate description for that was on the floor that Jacob was rolling around in. The picture has been edited just a bit by adjusting the brightness and contrast.

Jackson

My first born is Jackson Davis. He is really cool. He was born early Feb 2007 and the fun hasn't stopped. Here are a few pictures I grabbed of him while he was eating some fruit cocktail at our house earlier this year. Shots were taken with available light and are unedited.

Hello.

My first post on the new blog. I am branching out into the world of digital photographers with a Canon 40D and a few accessories that I have been able to collect along the way. My business name is of course Jermin Photography and I am still building my portfolio. I will be using this blog as a means to do just that. I mainly post to Flikr but will be sharing a select few here with information regarding the events around the shots.

To kick things off, here is a shot of my eldest son Jackson when we were at his Godparent's house one evening. Jackson loves to dance, pretend to play along to music with his guitar, and he also loves to pretend to sing. He will turn any object into a microphone at any moment if he so chooses. What's really funny is that he doesn't make any noise when he pretends to sing so the expressions alone are what make the event memorable. This picture is undedited and was taken using available light.
